I assume that Barry is the one who notified Muskogee friends of Ronnie's death. I'm so saddened to hear this. Our friend Joel Fischer texted me the news because he saw it in the paper. He asked me if this was "our Ronnie". I knew Ronnie's birthday and the family names. I knew that Mom had passed away fairly recently, and I had planned to try and locate Ronnie. I have thought about him many times over the years, and friends had asked me about him. I regret to say that I didn't take action on those feelings. At this stage of life, you look back and think about the people who were really important to you. Ronnie was one of those for me and I wanted to tell him that. We were close friends throug...h grade school. He lived across the street from my family on Columbus street in Muskogee. I'd say he was my best friend. He was so smart, funny, caring, and a loyal friend. He loved Science. We did very well at the Science Fairs because he did the projects and I did the posters! I learned so much from him. Once we were so fed up with society that we ran away together. We packed our lunches and precious belongings and went all the way to the "other side" of Longfellow school, and sat up on the fire escape until dark. (That would have been by 24th st.) We got kind of scared and went home. I don't think our families even knew we were gone! But WE had an adventure. We had LOTS of adventures together. I'm so sorry that we didn't get together as adults to reminisce about them. Have a good journey to the stars, sweet Ronnie. I think you always lived there anyway! Much love to you. And Barry, I'm so sorry for your loss.Read more
