Peggy Sue (Haskins) Montgomery Obituary

Carlile community, Oklahoma - Peggy Sue (Haskins) Montgomery passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

A celebration of her life will take place at Round Mountain Church on Monday the 28th at 10 a.m. under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Born on October 19th, 1932, on the Sharp place north of Vian, Peggy was the baby sibling in the loving home of Schuyler and Eulalia (Starnes) Haskins. Peggy's formative years were spent in the Sand Town Bottoms area, then from the age of nine in the Carlile community. She attended grade school at Carlile and high school at Vian.

Peggy married T.M. Montgomery in 1953, and they were together for 59 years until his death in 2014. Peggy and T.M. welcomed three boys into the young family while living and working in Wichita, Kansas. With Tom, Schuyler, and John in tow, they began following work opportunities to Rogers and Decatur, Arkansas; Watsonville, California; and then a six year period in Thornton, Colorado. It was then they made the decision to move back home to Carlile. There, the family flourished, surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Peggy lived a life of unselfish service and love to the Haskins and Montgomery families. Her home was always open to family gatherings. Over the years, several nephews lived with them and worked with T.M., getting a start in life. This, along with tireless involvement in the churches she attended, defined Peggy's life. She was very proud of her Christian family heritage and was always eager to share her Christian experience. She made everyone in the family feel special and loved.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Schuyler and Eulalia, husband T.M., brother Boyd, and sisters Mary Nell, Phyllis, Vurla, Velma, and Ruie. She is survived by her children Thomas Moffat Montgomery III, and wife Montie, Schuyler Ward Montgomery and wife Bobbie, John Bradford Montgomery, and Diana Montgomery; Grandchildren Tommy (Sarah), Hailey (Kendall), Kim (Steve), Jonathan (Tanya), Whitney (Matt), Colton (Taralee), Caleb (Emma), Bradford (Aubrey), and Brooke (Layne); Great Grandchildren Liam, Tate, Ben, Ellen, Ryan, Madeline, Dylan, Macy, Farron (Ke'Landus), Mallori (Garrett), Addison, Elliott, Claire, Palmer, Reece, Piper, Hazel, Madison, Quinn, Eli, Blakely, Tripp, and Molly.
