Norman Richard Allen
Norman Richard Allen, 82, of Oktaha, Oklahoma passed away Friday, March 13, 2020. He was born November 21, 1937 in Porter, Oklahoma to William Sylvester and Rena (Munn) Allen. Norman attended Oktaha Public School.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and later received an honorable discharge.
He married Wilma Jo Walker on September 17, 1958 in Stigler, Oklahoma. They shared more than 61 years of life, memories, and marriage together.
He worked for Safeway Grocery in the warehouse and was proud to be an active member and steward of the Teamsters Local Union 886. He retired in 1994 after many years of service.
Norman loved spending time outdoors taking care of his crops, his cattle, horses, garden, or working on his tractor. He loved going to the horse races but most important was watching his grandkids play sports. He was very community minded helping friends and neighbors for many years with burials at Middleton Chapel Cemetery.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Standing Tall Antique Tractor Club and retired from the Oktaha Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. S. and Rena Allen; daughter, Monica Jo Wiedel; brothers, Hugh Allen, Walter Allen, and J. D. Allen; sisters, Thelma (Allen) Gilbert and Delma (Allen) Walts.
Norman is survived by his wife, Wilma Jo, of Oktaha; sons, Richard Allen and wife Donna of Muskogee, Don Allen and wife Sheri of Oktaha; siblings, Tommy Allen and wife Debbie, Sonny Allen of Haskell, Helen Boyd and husband James of Checotah; grandchildren, Tyler Allen and wife Brittany of Muskogee, Ariel White and husband Derek of Council Hill, Zane Allen of Oktaha, Dustin Wiedel and wife Elizabeth of Morris, Clint Wiedel and wife Cassy of Council Hill, and Hannah Selby and husband Roper of Hitchita; along with 7 loving great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services celebrating Norman's life will be 10AM, Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Oktaha Community Church with Rev. Jeff Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Middleton Chapel Cemetery with Clint Wiedel, Dustin Wiedel, Tyler Allen, Zane Allen, Derek White, and Jesse Hill serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Mosley, Gary Avant, James Washington, Jim Johnson, Tom Herron, Jerry Needham, and Darrell Allen.
