Weatherford, OK - Memorial services for Morris Charles "Skip" Klingman, 80 year-old Weatherford resident, will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Carson officiating. Service is under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Skip was born October 30, 1945, in Anadarko, to Charles Eugene and Charlene Dee (Noble) Klingman and passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at Oxford Springs Assisted Living in Weatherford.
Skip was raised and attended school in Binger, graduating from Binger High School in 1963. While in high school he was involved in music and choir and played the piano and organ at church. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Southwestern State College and later earned his Masters from Southwestern. Skip met his future wife, Eleanor Jo Ross, in the Southwestern band room. They married December 22, 1968, in the First Christian Church in Thomas, and made their home in Clinton where he taught vocal music in the high school and junior high school. They moved to Muskogee for 12 years where he was High School Choral Director. They returned to Weatherford in 1982 where he joined the SWOSU vocal music faculty. He retired in 2009.
Skip was a long time member of Weatherford First United Methodist Church. He served in various capacities on the board of the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. Skip served as an adjudicator at voice contests and was tenor soloist with symphonies state wide. For years he was a member of the Miss Southwestern Pageant Board. He loved golf and spending time with his golf buddies.
Skip is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo Klingman; brother, Scott Klingman and wife, Tammy and their children, Tonya Duraso and Sarah Klingman; god-daughter Kimberly Bell Wall; and many, many Klingman cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and cousin, Jane Shaffer.
Memorials may be made to the SWOSU Foundation in support of music education or First United Methodist Church of Weatherford.
