Mary Lavone Nickle Stacy was born on October 7, 1926 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to her parents, Dirl and Florence (Harvey) Nickle. Mary passed away Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2016 in her homein Wagoner at the age of 89 years.

Mary graduated from Inola High School and later graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in Music Education. While at Northeastern, she was a very active member of Delta Zeta Sorority, the University Band, the Tennis Team and the Wesley Methodist Guild. Mary taught music at Kendall Whittier in Tulsa for several years before moving to Wagoner where she also taught music in the Wagoner School System.

On December 28, 1951, Mary married Evert "Bub" Stacy at the First United Methodist Church in Pryor. Shortly after their marriage, Mary worked with Bub at the Stacy Motors for many years before selling the dealership in 1987.

During her years as an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wagoner, Mary organized and served for many years as Director of the Junior Choir and she was also proud to be selected as Chairperson for the church's very successful Centennial Celebration held in 1991. She and Bub were also charter members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and were active members of the Wagoner Dance Club. She was also very active in the Wagoner Democratic Party.

Members of the following organizations were privileged to have Mary among their membership, the Arts & Crafts Literary Club, Chapter EU of P.E.O., the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. As a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Mary served for years as the person responsible for working with the school system in the selection of the girls to represent Wagoner as honorees at Girl's State which is a yearly event of the American Legion & Auxiliary. Her shoes will be hard to fill in this area. She was also responsible for instigating the annual collection of Valentines given by the Wagoner School Children and several of the local civic organizations. For ten years, Mary and her "helpers" saw that these Valentines were delivered to the Veterans who, on that special day were patients in the Muskogee Veterans Hospital.

Not only was Mary a graduate in Music Education, but she had a "God given" talent for entertaining at the piano. Many people may have this talent, but Mary was most gracious and loving with the sharing of this gift with her relatives and friends. Another "star" for her was her long-time service each Thursday at the Wagoner Care Center where she happily entertained the "guests" there and where she was lovingly known at "Melodious Mary".

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Dirl Nickel; her husband "Bub", her son, "Chip" and her beloved sister Jamsie Redden.

Surviving her are her daughter, Jamielu Knowles and her husband Heath of Wagoner; two granddaughters, Nicole Miller and Shelly Stacy and one grandson, Brandon Joe Miller; two great-grandsons, Dean and Wesley and a host of many cousins and other relatives and friends.

A private interment will be held at the Pioneer Cemetery prior to the Life Celebration for Mary at the First United Methodist Church in Wagoner at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, 2016.
