Juanita Marie (Vaughn) Sligar
Juanita Marie (Vaughn) Sligar, 88, passed peacefully on January 9, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born to Beatrice and Everette Vaughn in Steedman, Oklahoma.
She meet Millard Sligar in Tupelo, Oklahoma, where they later married March 26, 1949, which resulted in 52 years of marriage before Millard's passing. Of this marriage, they had their only child, a son, Donald Joe Sligar.
Juanita enjoyed farming, camping, and loved the outdoors. When she was not enjoying the outdoors, she was crocheting, and creating beautiful handmade quilts, which she made hundreds of. She was dedicated to her job where she worked for the United States Postal Service as Postmaster General in Wainwright, Oklahoma for 42 years before she retired.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Millard Sligar. She is survived by her son, Donald Joe Sligar. and wife Joellee Sligar, of Wainwright, Oklahoma; her 4 grandchildren; Donald Lee Sligar of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; Stephen Sligar and wife Leticia Sligar of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; Amy Maxwelll and husband Steve Maxwell of Muskogee; and Cindy Buckland of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She leaves behind her brother Leroy Vaughn and wife Joann of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her sister Geneva Smiley of Water Valley, Texas; and Ina Ruth Moody of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She also leaves behind her 13 great grandchildren; Taylor Crain, Caydon Crain, Jachin Crain, Alexis Maxwell, Mahayla Brown, George Buckland, Viviann Buckland, Ashli Robinson, Haley Patterson, Tylor Wilson, Lindsey Sligar, Chandler Sligar, and Camila Sligar. She also leaves behind one great, great grandchild, Kaizyn, as well as other extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
