Joan Frances (Capps) Drain
It is with deep sadness that the family and many friends of Joan Capps Drain announce her passing on November 14, 2019. Joan passed away peacefully at the Fort Gibson Nursing Home, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
Joan was born January 21, 1934 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Casimer and Malena (Truhowski) Kominowski. She was later adopted by Robert and Helen (Roegiers) Freeman in 1947. She spent her youth and received her education in Mishawaka. She lived in California, Libya, Florida and finally settled in Oklahoma in 1960.
Joan had many interests that stemmed from her love of life and compassion for people. She loved to travel and experience the people of the world. Lifelong friends can be found everywhere she went. She will be remembered as someone who found everyone and everything in life interesting. She joyfully believed that "Life is Good" and practiced it every day.
Joan worked tirelessly with integrity and honor in all her jobs which included People Savings & Loan and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from which she retired in 1993.
She believed in life-long learning. Joan was a dedicated individual whose expertise knew no bounds. She was committed to compassionate care and being a friend to all. Her life was a testimony to her personal beliefs. She was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church in Okay, Oklahoma.
Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Leon Capps and Lloyd Drain; both sets of parents; two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Coffman and Cheryll (Roger) Synar; brothers, Dick Miller of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Scott Stockton, Carrie (Troy) Thornton, and Bridget Fry; great grandchildren, Chance, Jacob, and Michael Stockton, Taylor Nail, Kayleigh Thornton, Elton Clint Ruckman, Amanda Carter, Edyth Hopson and Anna Gipson.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Bradley Funeral Service in Muskogee, OK. A celebration of her life will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Okay, OK. Committal will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Muskogee, OK.

I was so saddened to hear of Joan's passing. She was so special to me. She was there with me through all the big events of my life. Even though we havent seen each other in many years, she and Leon has a special place in my heart and always will.
