Jean H. Jackson
Jean Watson (Hunter) Jackson, 92, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 3, 2019. She was born on February 15, 1927 to Watson H. Hunter and Isa Pearl Dail Hunter in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Jean graduated high school at the age of 16 from a Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1943. She took an office job with the U.S. Navy right out of high school.
Jean was raised in the Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh, North Carolina along with 325 children. Losing her parents at a young age was tragic. She was 2 years old when her mother died and 8 years old when her father died.
She married the love of her life, James Ray Jackson, on November 9, 1945 in South Mills, North Carolina. They shared over 73 years of life and marriage together. After a while, the Jacksons returned to Virginia, where two of their children were born. Jim went back to the Navy and Jean stayed home with the children. She and Jim had lived in Virginia while he was in the Navy, and when he was discharged, he took a job in Borger, Texas. Jim wasn't a big fan of working at a union job and when the union went on strike, he took a job at Callery Chemical Co., which was just opening in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He went to work the day after Labor Day in 1958 and Jean and the children moved here three days before Christmas that year. They bought a home in Meadowbrook Addition, which was just being built. Jean appeared on the show "The Price is Right" in 1989 and won $21,000.00 in prizes.
She was the secretary to the Muskogee Police Chief until her retirement in 1989. Jean loved working in her flower beds in her free time. She enjoyed talking, eating, reading and writing letters. Jean was a member of Muskogee First Baptist Church. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; son, David Jackson and wife Debby of Arkansas Pass, TX and they have two sons and five grandchildren; daughter, Jeanie Grubbs and late husband, Dr. Terry Grubbs of Muskogee, OK and they have one daughter, one grandchild, and one son; son Allan Jackson and wife Sharon of Northlake, TX and they have two children and two grandchildren.
A celebration of Jean's life will be 2PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Johnny Derouen officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Rodney Brook, Rex Eskridge, Alan Simmons, Jim Webb, Gary Isbell and Tim Bishop serving as pallbearers.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.

So sorry for the loss of a really great lady! She was so much a loving wife, mother, and grandmother! Never was there a visit with her did you not walk away feeling loved and important because of the love she shared and spent on you while with her. She will be missed greatly!
