Funeral Services for Della Mae Benge, 87, a 50 year retiree of Norwood School, will be Friday August 5, 2022, in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Bobby Botts. Serving as Pall Bearers are Justin Adams, Dakota Keys, Denim Adams, Brystol Adams, Steve Fort, and Ricky Carey. Honorary Pall Bearers are Dwight Anderson, Terry Davis, Ronnie Fort, Billy and Cash Keys, Alan Vann, and Mike and Bill Anderson. Interment will follow next to her husband Joe in the Stilwell City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home
Della was born at home in Hulbert to Claude and Grace Rogers on February 3, 1935. The daughter of Claude and Olive (Nichols) Rogers. She passed away on July 31, 2022 at her residence in Hulbert.
She graduated from Cherryvale High School in Kansas, then proceeded to get her bachelor's degree at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Della started as a secretary in 1967 at Norwood School, and upon her completion of her degree, she began teaching in 1970. After 50 years as a secretary, teacher, and librarian she finally retired in May 2017.
She was married to Joe Benge for 65 happy years. They resided on Norwood Mountain, raising a family and enjoying the country life. She loved cooking and getting together for family holidays, which included playing games that consisted of a lot of laughter. Attending sporting events with Joe to watch the kids and their kids was always a high priority.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents Claude and Grace (Nichols) Rogers, brother Avery Rogers, and son-in-law Richard Rhodes.
She is survived by daughters Angie Reed-Rhodes of Woodall, Kathy Davis and husband Terry of Muskogee, two grandchildren Bryan and Tamatha Adams, Christy and Billy Keys, seven great-grandchildren Justin Adams, Katy and husband Ricky Carey, Dakota and wife Lyssa Keys, Lexy Keys, Denim Adams, Brystol Adams, Cash Keys, eight great-great grandchildren, Padon, Kaylee, Jazzy, Britleigh Adams, Brooklyn, Brayden, Braxton, Baker-Joe Carey. Two sisters Hazel and Dwight Anderson, Carol and Ronny Fort.
