Born in Muskogee on August 4, 1931, to Charles and Nannie Ruth Morgan, Tom was the eldest of four children. He attended OSU and NSC, then received his M.D. in general medicine from the OU College of Medicine in 1956, following an internship at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, then Lafayette, Louisiana for his residency.
Tom married Bonnie Caren Curry in 1954, set up his general medical practice in Tahlequah in the mid-50s, then helped establish the emergency room at Muskogee Regional Hospital in the early 70s, Muskogee Immediate Care Clinic on York Street, then private practice in Fort Gibson. He retired from medicine in he late 90s and a few years later returned to Tahlequah to care for Bonnie, who was stricken with Alzheimer's Disease.
Throughout his life, Tom could never seem to arrest his thirst for learning, creating, growing, building and inventing. He was valedictorian of his senior class, and appointed to the Board of Regents for Oklahoma Colleges in the early 70s. About that time, he co-founded Midwestern Nurseries and Briar Patch Farms, then Grand River Nursery with his son in the 80s. Tom loved being on a tractor, growing trees and enormous gardens with Bonnie and was often accused of being in medicine to support his "farming habit". His intelligence, drive and uniqueness will be missed.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie Caren Curry Morgan, both brothers, Dr. John Morgan and George Morgan (Vivian), niece Kathy Morgan and nephew John Morgan, brothers-in-law LaDon Dyer (Katherine), Tom Graham (Luraly), Dean Curry (Jolly), Glen Teel (Jane) and beloved daughter, Melissa Stogsdill (Trent).
He is survived by his special friend and companion, Judy Ballew Hawkins, his sister, Katherine Ann Dyer, sisters-in-law Luraly Graham, Jolly Curry and Jane Teel, his children, Charles Morgan (Karen), Jennifer Morgan Palmer (Tom), Bill Morgan (Heather) and Caren McCurdy (Jay), along with 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
