Steve Eugene Hash was born August 17, 1957 in Fowler, CA to Paul E. and Jimmie Helen (Morgan) Hash. Soon after graduating from Porter High School and attending college, Steve began his 40 years career in law enforcement. His first appointment was as a member of the Porter Police Department, followed by his service with the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office and the Wagoner Police Department. It was from there that Steve was accepted into the OHP training, fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman. He served for thirty-one years before retiring and was a member of the OHP tactical team 19 years.
Steve answered a true calling to serve in law enforcement. He will always have the respect of fellow officers as well as the public he served and will be remembered for his dedicated professionalism, exceptional abilities, and kindness and fairness in dealing with everyone.
In his free time, Steve loved to travel. He liked the entire outdoors, whether it was the mountains of Colorado or sandy beaches. He and Rhonda went on many cruises with the "Steakout" gang. Steve particularly enjoyed snorkeling and kayaking during those trips.
Steve departed this life Monday, January 2, 2017 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Hash; his sisters, Kathie Simpson, Sharon Coffey, and Judy Flanagan; step-dad, Pete Jones and a niece, Angela Ladner.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rhonda (Rosenthal) Hash of Wagoner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Brenda Gilmore and James and Chasity Hash, all of Muskogee, OK; one daughter, Natalie Hash of Tulsa, OK; his mother, Jimmie Helen Hawkins of Wagoner, OK; grandchildren, Keegan, Logan, Chad, Brookelyn, Caytlin, Carver and Arianna; and numerous other family and friends.
A Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday evening at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner.
The Funeral service celebrating the life of Steve Hash will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2016 at the Performing Arts Center at Wagoner High School. OHP Chaplain Sam Garner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Keith Williams, OHP, Gary Fears, OHP retired, Rick Myers, OHP retired, Todd Blish, OHP, Buddy Hamilton, OHP, and Brad Harding, Wagoner Police Department. Honorary Pallbearers will be the OHP Tactical Team members, OHP active and retired, and all other law enforcements officers and first responders.
Interment will be in Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Honor Guard providing Honors and serving as Pallbearers.
