Samantha Jo Phillips
Jun 8, 1987 - Mar 15, 2017
On Monday, June 8, 1987, a beautiful baby girl was born in Tahlequah, OK to Jerry and Kimberly Phillips. From that moment on, she kept them on their toes.
The youngest of three children, Samantha Jo was a little girl with a big personality that loved singing, macaroni and cheese and lipstick.
Her outgoing personality followed her throughout her life, as did her love for singing, although she'd be the first to admit that she wasn't very good at it.
Sami attended Checotah Public Schools for most of her education before graduating from Oktaha with the class of 2005.
As an adult, Sam was known for laughing at herself, and telling it like it was. She hated being bored, and found enjoyment in cooking, singing, dancing, socializing, and her baby girls.
Sami became a mother to Kynadi at the age of 20, and then again at 26 to "Annie". She had many plans for her daughters and loved them dearly.
She was very giving when she had it to give, and spared no expense when it came time to buy presents for her nieces and nephews.
In her short time here, she lived her life to the fullest; spending her time doing exactly what she wanted, exactly how she wanted to do it.
Sam was carefree and fearless. She spent much of her life seeking adventure and experiencing different cities throughout the country.
They didn't always see eye to eye, but Samantha knew she was very loved by her parents, and no matter where she traveled, she always made her way back home.
Although there is nothing easy about Samantha's untimely passing, we can take comfort in knowing that she gave her life to Christ and was baptized on Friday, February 10, 2017.
On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the age of 29, Samantha left this world to join her grandparents in heaven: Robert and Zelma Phillips of Checotah, and Jones Felts of Muskogee.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents, Jerry and Kim Phillips, and her daughters, Kynadi and Anastyn, all of Checotah; brothers and sisters, Jerad and Nicole Phillips of Tulsa, and Starla Carlton and Kaleb O'Brien of Wagoner; nieces, Alexis and Ella; nephews, Kaden, Hudson and Kanon; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held Monday, March 20 at 2pm at Checotah Funeral Home with interment at Triplett Cemetery.
