Richard's Story

Richard Theodore Golding, age 91, danced down the tunnel of light into eternity November 3, 2016. Born May 29, 1925, he spent his early childhood in an orphanage. He was adopted by Asa and Margaret Golding and grew up in East Chicago, Indiana. In 1943, he enlisted the Army and served in Europe during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Richard married Mary Winifred Coombs April 27, 1944. They owned the very first Daylight Donuts franchise and after closing the Donut Center in 1964, Richard worked at the VA Hospital and retired 1986. They moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas in 1997. During his lifetime, he was a Golden Gloves Boxer, Boy Scout Leader, member of the Jaycees in Muskogee and NARFE Chapter 1156 of Heber Springs. His interests included hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and dancing, dancing, dancing!

Richard was preceded in death by wife Mary in 2007, infant daughter Terry Ann Golding, grandson John Golding, his parents and brother, Robert Golding.

Survivors include two sons, Walter Golding and wife, Jodie, of Lakewood, WA and Robert Golding of Muskogee, OK, two daughters, Kathleen Golding of Heber Springs, AR and Margie Margaret Delle and husband, Scott, of Trenton, TN; seven grandchildren, Tammy Spencer, Andrew Golding, Rachel Golding, Jennifer Barger, Melissa Poore, Krystal Ashwood and Tyler Golding; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Sellers and Erin Delle; 16 great-grandchildren. Aidan and Cameron Srisupa; Keryia, A.J. and Katelin Spencer; Mia, Taylor and Leia Ashwood; Kyler, Kylie and Kaiden Golding, Hunter and Hailey Poore, Breanna Barger, Easton and Wyatt Sellers, and two great-great grandchildren, Faith and Kayden Miller.
