Nancy Owen Rider, 89, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017. She was born August 10, 1927 to James Vernon and Annice (Johnson) Owen in Lamar, Arkansas. She attended the public schools of Checotah and graduated in 1945.
On July 17, 1946, Nancy married the love of her life Charles Milton Rider, they eloped to Fort Smith, Arkansas. They shared over 61 years of happy marriage and life together before his death. She loved being a wife, raising their children, and spending time with family and friends.
Nancy began working for Southwestern Bell and later she worked for Cindy's Gifts. She enjoyed buying gifts for Cindy's Gift Shop and retired from there in 1995.
Her hobbies included playing board games, cards, and painting. She loved traveling and seeing new places. Nancy attended Oldham Memorial Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rider of Muskogee, OK; along with four brothers and two sisters.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Charles Rider, and Lanny Rider; sisters, Gloria Lloyd, Geleda Platter, and Doris Finical; grandchildren, Rachael VanMarter, Natalie Scott, Charles Michael, and Jeremiah Rider; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Noah Rider; along with many friends who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Clarehouse, in Nancy's honor.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Glen Little officiating. Interment at Greenhill Cemetery will follow with Michael Owen, Shawn Lloyd, Jeff Platter, Christan Lloyd, Joe Owen, Jim Platter, and Randy Rider serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Scott and Tyler VanMarter.
