Maud's Story

Maud M. Miller, 94, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was born January 12, 1923 in Dighton, Oklahoma to Arthur and Adeline (Prine) Rose. She attended Dighton Public Schools and earned her GED. Maud enjoyed working at Muskogee High School as a cafeteria manager, from which she retired in 1995. Maud was a Christian, prayer warrior.
She was working at the "Ole Mill" drive-in in Corpus Christi, when she met the love of her life, John A. Miller. They married November 22, 1941 in Miami, Oklahoma. Together they shared 55 years of friendship, love, and marriage.
At a young age Maud gave her life to Christ and was later baptized when she was 34. She had a strong faith in God and was a proud member of Lawrence Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed sharing the word of God and enjoyed teaching her Sunday School class.
Maud loved to go fishing with her late husband John. She enjoyed traveling and treasured many adventures with the family. She also loved sewing, gardening and tending to her beautiful flower beds, which included her beloved roses.
Maud was preceded in death by her late husband, John A. Miller; parents, Arthur and Adeline Cordelia (Prine) Rose; daughters, Rose Marie and Sandra Christine; son, John A. Miller Jr.; siblings, her twin Mae Rose who died at age 12, Lillian Payne, Jewell East, Rena Tidwell, Fred Rose, Ollie (Fisher)(Taylor), Bernice Crabtree, Beulah Bellows, and Perry Rose.
She is survived by daughter, Carol Miller of the home; special nephew, Bobby Gerhart; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of Maud's life will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2017 at Lawrence Street Baptist Church with Pastor Jerimiah Blasi and Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating. Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to the Lawrence Street Baptist Church for the roof fund.
