Marvin D. VanBeber, 89, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at his home with his loving daughter at his side. He was born on October 15, 1927 in Leach, Oklahoma to Arthur VanBeber and Celia Bruton VanBeber where he attended public school. Marvin proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from which he received an Honorable discharge.
Marvin met and later married his loving wife, Betty Elizabeth Mills, on April 21, 1950 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared more than 65 years of life and marriage together.
He worked as an electrician for Beals Electric for many years and retired in 1990. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Marvin could always be found whittling on some wood. He attended the First Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Celia VanBeber; his wife, Betty Elizabeth VanBeber; and his son, Terry Arthur VanBeber; his siblings, France VanBeber, Bud VanBeber, Parker VanBeber, Chuck VanBeber, Homer VanBeber, Lorraine Jarrard, and Mildred Gaylor.
Marvin is survived by his children, Larry VanBeber and wife Mary of Waurika, OK, RoseMary Seabolt and husband Joe of Muskogee, OK, Jerry VanBeber and wife Sarah of Grand Bay, AL; grandchildren, Russell VanBeber of Phoenix, AZ, Tyler VanBeber and wife Victoria of Little Elm, TX, Joey "Vann Vann" Seabolt of Muskogee, OK, Ryan VanBeber and Kathleen VanBeber, both of Grand Bay, AL; great granddaughters, Aurora VanBeber and Vivianne VanBeber, both of Little Elm, TX; sisters, Mary Coffman and Jewel Staffelbach; special caregivers, Billy Outz and Joyce Clark; along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services honoring Marvin's life will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Military Honors being presented. Serving as pallbearers will be Lynn Coffman, Larry Boling, Eugene VanBeber, and Billy Outz.
