Lonna's Story

Lonna Kathaleen Hammond, 73, of Muskogee, entered heaven's gates on August 17, 2017. She was born on February 26, 1944 to Ulysses William Henry and Lonna Francis (Grounds) McFarland in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After earning her GED, she worked as a waitress most of her professional life. Lonna later retired from Willow Brook Farms.
She married the love of her life, Ray Hammond, on September 15, 1963 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Together they shared almost 55 years of love, life, and marriage together.
Lonna was a member of the Salvation Army Church. She was a former member of Indian Territory Marshalls. She was known as "Sissy" to those who knew her best. Sissy enjoyed making Indian crafts and loved spoiling her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses William Henry and Lonna Francis McFarland; brothers, Billy McFarland, David McFarland and Patrick McFarland; sisters, Carol Ann George and Barbara Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Leah Foster.
Lonna is survived by her loving husband of the home, Ray Hammond; daughters, Jenice Marsolais and husband Jim, and Raylene Katowich and husband Tim; grandchildren, Anthony McHolland and wife Kelly, Adam McHolland, Linda Lyons and husband Jeremy, Kevin Foster and wife Denise; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry McFarland, Garland McFarland and wife Lavern, and Allen McFarland and wife Mary; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
There will be a public visitation from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral home.
A celebration of life will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Salvation Army Church with Majors Dave and Sue Dewan officiating.
