Lillian A. Hunter, 92, of Muskogee, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Tahlequah. She was born on April 3, 1925 to James and Letha Miller in Maysville, Oklahoma. She attended school in Maysville and later worked in Oklahoma City assembling aircraft and machinery for the World War II effort.
In July 1943, she married Fred C. Hunter. They were married for 69 years until his death in 2013. They made their home in Muskogee where they raised their daughter Sharon (Hunter) Leeds and attended Ridgecrest and Wesley United Methodist churches. Prior to retirement, Lillian worked as a supervisor at Funsten Nut Company. Her beloved full time job was that of loving mother with unparalleled pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Leeds and her husband Jim; grandson Scott Leeds and his wife Dana; granddaughter Stacy Leeds; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Leeds and Hunter Stewart, ages 16 and 8. She is also survived by her brother Buck Miller and his wife Mary along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five siblings.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Compassus Hospice and Cherokee County Nursing Home in Tahlequah for their compassion, grace and love in end-of-life care.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 29 at 10 am at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Muskogee.
