Funeral services for John Edward Summerlin, 81, of Gore, OK, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at White Chapel in Gore, OK, with Reverend Wayne Rice officiating. Burial will be in White Cemetery in Gore, OK. Viewing will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Webbers Falls.
John was born April 10, 1935 at Vian, OK, the son of Burt and Artie Jane (Shamblin) Summerlin and died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home in Gore.
On November 23, 1953 he married Edice Ann Mathis in Hanford, CA. John worked as a heavy equipment operator and operating engineer in California for 18 years. He moved to Oklahoma in 1975 where he operated a dump truck hauling business for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, of the home; daughter, Linda Summerlin of Gore; son, Dale Summerlin of Gore; grandchildren, Rachel Summerlin, Diana Boston, Megan Chitty, and Kalem D. Summerlin; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Summerlin and wife, Patricia, of Webbers Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenny Summerlin; brothers, Frank and Al; sisters, Bertie Mathis, Pearl Whitney, and Tricia Watkins.
