Joe David Ellis, 81, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Friday, July 14, 2017. He was born on December 23, 1935 in Obion, TN to L. B. and Lavern Ellis.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 from which he received an honorable discharge.
Joe married the love of his life, Ruth Davidson, on October 29, 1956 in Coloma, MI. where they made their home until moving to Muskogee in 1976. They shared more than 60 years of life and marriage together.
Joe and Ruth were active and faithful members of Grace Church in Tulsa for over 40 years.
He was known as a wonderful carpenter, a career he took much pride in and enjoyed.
Joe was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Lavern Ellis; his son, Daniel Ellis; and his sister, Nancy Ellis.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; daughters, Cindy Brock and husband Mitchell of Muskogee, Julie Chapman and husband Bob of St. Louis, MO; sisters, Shirley Turner and husband Jack, Fay Moore and husband Ron, Carolyn Lane, all of Muskegon, MI; grandchildren, Clint Brock and wife Megan, Tara Dearman and husband Patrick, all of Muskogee, Sarah Chapman of St. Louis, MO, and Amy Chapman of Topeka, KS; great grandchildren, Brody Brock, Piper Brock, and Harley Dearman; along with other family members and friends.
A graveside service honoring Joe's life will be 10AM, Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Agnew Cemetery with Dr. Steve Rose officiating.
