Jim Lee Murray, 82, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 1, 2017. He was born October 5, 1934 to Earl Lee and Lillian Beatrice (Guilliams) Murray in Enid, OK. He attended Piney and Stilwell Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963. Jim married the love of his life and best friend, Elaine McKay on January 19, 1974. They shared 43 years of life and marriage together. They loved to work together and play together, and they chose to spend every day side by side. When one was seen, so was the other. They were both volunteer firefighters for 30 years with Brushy Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. Jim's hobbies were bowling, golf, music, and OU football. He worked for Muskogee Lumber and Hope Lumber. Jim retired as manager when Hope Lumber closed, and then started his own remodeling and handyman business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lillian Murray; his sister, Earlene Hignite and husband Hubert; and brother-in-law, Roland Barnez.
Jim is survived by his wife, Elaine, of the home; sister, Opal Barnez of Fayetteville, AR; aunt, Ruby Murray of Shreveport, LA; son, James Lee Murray of Claredon, AR; daughter, Lisa Tidwell-McKay of Muskogee; James McKay and wife Kirsten of Muskogee; grandchildren, Tabitha Barks and husband David, Tiffany Olson and Chris Hall, Eva McKay, Tyler McKay, Brandon McKay, and Gabe McKay; great grandchildren, Icsis Olson, Nya Olson, Deacon Barks, Emily Barks, and Aslan Hall; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Keefeton Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Barks officiating.
