Janie Bates Echols, 69, of Owasso, Oklahoma (formerly of Muskogee, Oklahoma) passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016. She was born January 8, 1947 to Leon and Gladys Mae (Fulton) Bates in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Janie was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, as she enjoyed caring for people. She worked as a LPN specializing in Hospice Care for many years until her retirement.
She will always be remembered as a woman of strong faith and enjoyed attending church. She took great pride in being a pastor's wife. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Her hobbies included cooking, watching movies, and reading. She was always ready to just get in the car and go along. The Annual Echols Family Reunion was something Janie cherished each year, and started packing a month in advance. She loved the Echols family dearly. She was such a kind and loving person that could make a friend in a minute. Her personal motto was "Never too late for happily ever after".
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Larry Echols (who was her first and last husband due to remarriage); and Donald Hesterlee (second husband); adoptive parents, Allien Carr and Stephen Stanley Sadowski; and biological parents Gladys Bates and Leon Bates.
