Funeral services for Janice Marie Mattox, 77, of Gore, OK, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Harvest Time Church in Vian, OK, with Reverend Chris Armer officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Hampton, Ray Magoon, Victor Colbert, Kevin Baker, Jerad Mattox, Trey Mattox, and Lake Mattox. Burial will be in White Cemetery in Gore, OK, under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Webbers Falls.
Janice was born September 25, 1939 in Gore, Oklahoma the daughter of Preston and Dorothy (Bowman) Smith and died Friday, December 23, 2016 in Muskogee, OK. On December 30, 1956 she married Wesley Paul Mattox in Stigler, OK. Prior to retirement, Janice worked in the Gore school cafeteria. Janice enjoyed reading her Bible, church singing, cooking, and watching Hummingbirds.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley, of the home; children, Paula Hampton of Gore, Janet Derr of Muskogee, Joy Magoon of Fayetteville, Penny Colbert of Panama City Beach, FL, Shaunna Mattox of Gore, OK; grandchildren, Dalana Adams of Bixby, Joshua Morris of Muskogee, Dessra Potter of Yukon, Jerad Mattox of Oklahoma City, Chastity Baker of Muskogee, Lake Mattox, Trey Mattox, Dylan Mattox, and Gabe Mills; great-grandchildren, Tristen Adams, Katelyn Adams, Isaac Jones, Madison Potter, and Jordan Potter; sisters, Patsy Collins and Martha Basinger both of Gore. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Rufus "Sonny" Smith.
