James Hadley Martin Jr., 81, of Fort Gibson was born November 2, 1935 in Muskogee, OK to James "Hadley" and Georgia Irene (Leininger) Martin and passed from this life on Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Fort Gibson, OK, with his loving family by his side.
Jim was in commercial construction most of his adult life beginning as a union concrete mason and ending his 45 plus year career as a project superintendent. Jim worked for several general contracting firms on projects that took him and his family to many states including Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Kansas, and Colorado among others.
Jim had several interests including photography and was a self-taught photographer even opening and running his own small portrait studio for a short time while in Dallas, Jim was interested in computers and dabbled in programming during the early years of the home computer trend. Jim also enjoyed trains, locomotives, and the rail industry as a whole including model trains and travel by rail. Other interests of Jim's included American Civil War history and wood working.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jerry Martin and Bill Martin.
Those left to cherish Jim's memory are his wife, Betty of the home; son, Tom Martin and wife Jeana of Fort Gibson, OK; daughter, Patty Parker and husband Tim of Tahlequah, OK; son, Bobby Martinhauk of Long Beach, CA; step-children, Cheryl Pyle and husband Vince of Elmo, Texas; Michael Beeson and wife Mindy of Anaheim, CA; Mike Riley and wife Lisa of Denver, CO; Michelle Moore and husband Larry of Fort Gibson, OK; grandchildren, Colin and Emma Martin, Paige and Jake Parker, Brian and Kacy Martinhauk, Jeremy and Matt Beeson, Christie Miles, Chris and Craig Hanna, Josh Moore, Sara Thomas, Matt Riley, Megan Perry and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Lawley of Tulsa, OK; Mary Lou Burns of Fort Gibson, OK; brother, Rick Martin and wife Patty of Greensboro, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service celebrating Jim's life will be held at 12:00PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Minister Dan Rouse and Elder Budo Perry officiating.
Committal prayers and interment with Honors will be held at 2:00 PM, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Bobby Martin, Tom Martin, Colin Martin, Tim Parker, Jake Parker and Craig Hanna serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lyle Tolbert, Glen Hopfer, Ted Maplethorpe, Gerald Walkingstick, Rick Martin and Ronnie Cook.
