James J. "Hoss" Hughart, 61, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. He was born January 6, 1956 to James Frances Hughart and Ella (Wildcat) Hughart in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Hoss, a nickname all of his family and friends knew him by, graduated from Braggs High School with the class of 1974. Later, he attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Hoss married the love of his life, Melinda Lavon Jones on June 9, 1978 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 39 years of life and a happy marriage together.
He worked at Brockway Glass as a Forklift Operator for 41 years. He enjoyed going bowling, riding 4 wheelers and horses. Hoss liked to stay active and enjoyed being outdoors. His family remembers how much he enjoyed riding his tractor and spending time with his beloved dog, Gabby. His many friends always knew they could call on him and he would always be available to help at any time. Hoss loved his family very much and loved to spend time with his kids and especially his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Ella Hughart; and brother, Jerry Wildcat.
Hoss is survived by his wife, Melinda Hughart of Muskogee, OK; children, Leslie Miller and husband George, Amanda Camacho and husband Victor, and James (Joey) Hughart and wife Natalie all of Muskogee, OK; 5 grandchildren, Nathanael, Clayton, Kaylee, Joseph and Aliyah; siblings, Johnnie Hughart of Braggs, OK, Bob Hughart and wife Tina of Oklahoma City, OK Jeff Hughart and wife Penny of El Reno, OK, Juanita Grant and husband Steve of Braggs, OK, Joan Hughart of Muskogee, OK, Marilyn Crawford of Braggs, OK and Carol Weaver of Tampa, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of Hoss' life will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Newton officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Vince Clark, Greg Boswell, Cliff Seay and Jim Pierce.
