He grew up in the Elm Grove community and attended Oktaha Public Schools where he graduated with the class of 1998. He furthered his education at NSU.

James will always be remembered for his love of his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially Olivia and Michelle. He enjoyed playing poker, fast cars, traveling, eating at new restaurants, collecting guns and watching any University of Texas sports, "Hook 'em Horns"!
"Cheese" was loved by many and never met anyone that didn't love him!
He worked as an Information Technology Specialist at Helmerich & Payne for a time and was employed at Magellen Midstreams when his health began to fail.
