Jack A. Fletcher, 94, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He was born on June 8, 1922 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to General Jefferson Fletcher and Pearle Donna Williams Fletcher. Jack attended schools in Tulsa and Muskogee counties and graduated from Oktaha with the class of 1941.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and the Air Force. While serving during the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam eras Jack traveled extensively while in Europe. He married Frances Blanchard in 1952 and they were blessed with one daughter, Cheryl born in 1956. He enjoyed taking his family with him on his travels. Jack served two 3 year terms in Europe and served in the South Pacific during WWII. While in the US, they were stationed in Clovis, New Mexico and Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Jack retired from active duty in 1968 and then chose to remain in the reserve until 1978. He served a total of 30 years and earned 8 battle stars.
Jack worked for the Oklahoma State Health Department and Veterans Administration. He served as League Director for Green Country girl's softball.
Later in life, Jack was married to Marjorie First until she passed in 2014.
He will always be remembered for his love for his family; especially his great grandchildren. Jack loved them dearly and would always ask "How's my babies?"
He was preceded in death by his parents; Cheryl's mother, Frances Fletcher; and wife, Marjorie First Fletcher; brothers, Oliver, Rudolph, Clarence, Ray, and Bill; sisters, Edith and Bonnie.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Moses and husband Randy; granddaughter, Renee Clark and husband Jesse; grandson, Randy Moses II and wife Joni; great grandchildren, Emersyn Hope, Avery Faith, Rylin Grace, Mason Eugene, Maegan Nicole, Brayden Ray, and Trevor Allen; along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to express a very special "Thank you" to Becky Reheard and the staff at Broadway Manor also to the 4th floor staff and nurses at the Jack C Montgomery Veterans Hospital for the care, kindness, and compassion for Jack. It will always be remembered.
Jack requested memorials to be made to the Douglas Nutrition Center, 601 Indianapolis St, Muskogee OK 74401.
Funeral services honoring Jack's life will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rodney Mattox officiating. Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with full Military Honors being presented. Jesse Clark, Randy Mullen, Brayden Smith, and Trevor Smith will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Moses and Randy Moses II.
