Henry M. (Rufe) Sharp passed away Saturday February 11, 2017. Henry was born March 21, 1934 to Owen & Elinor Sharp in Braggs, OK. Shortly after graduating from Braggs High School, Henry enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served from 1952 to 1956. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. In 1958, Henry joined the Muskogee Police Department and served as Chief of Police from June 1974 until his retirement in November 1984. On June 14, 1986 he married Sharon (Turnbo) in McAlester, OK. Henry was a member of First Baptist Church of Muskogee. He was an avid waterfowl hunter and fisherman. Henry enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and most of all spending many hours keeping track and watching his Purple Marten birds.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents Owen & Elinor; sister Doris Cox; 2 sons Garry & Bart. Henry leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Sharon of the home; son Brett Sharp; sister Jodie Thomas; brother in law David Turnbo & wife Sarah; 2 nieces, Michelle Daniels and Cary Caddell; 3 nephews, Larry Thomas, Terry Thomas and Trevor Turnbo; and many friends. Honorary Pallbearers are Rex Eskridge, Johnny Teehee, Tim Gibson, James Poffel, Jay Clinton, Tom Spriggs, Charles Pearson, Rodney Brook, Richard Slader, & Mark Hudson. Memorial Services will be 10:00 am Friday, February 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Muskogee with Pastor Johnny Derouen officiating under the direction of Hibbs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to First Baptist Church of Muskogee or W.I.S.H. (Women In Safe Home) in Muskogee.
