Elizabeth Sanford was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 18, 1966, she was the daughter of Ronald and Betty (Moya) Thurber. She passed this life on Friday, May 5, 2017 at her home in Wagoner, at the age of 51. She was a 1984 graduate of Haskell High School and later extended her education by attending NSU and Connors. Elizabeth was a X-Ray Technician for two years at the Muskogee Regional Hospital. She enlisted with the U. S. Army National Guard and worked in personal Administration. Elizabeth met MSG Steven P. Sanford, her husband while serving in the National Guard. They married in Hot Springs, Arkansas on November 8, 2003. Elizabeth retired from the National Guard in 2010, proudly serving her military time. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Elizabeth was very active and involved with her daughters. She served as a volunteer leader with Girl Scout Troop 1002 in Muskogee, OK. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and Nana, her family times were a treasure.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband Steve, their children, Marc Duvall of Muskogee, Amber Bowden and her husband, Wesley, of OKC, Aaralyn and Savannah Sanford, both of the home, Michael Sanford and his wife, Hannah, of Sapulpa and Jessica Sanford of Tulsa. One brother, Ronald Thurber II and his wife, Karen, of Wagoner and one sister, Mary Oneal of Muskogee. Two grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Owen Sanford, along with other family members and dear friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel with Life Celebrant Anita Shipman officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
