Earnest "Ray" Osmon, 67, longtime resident of Muskogee County, passed away Friday afternoon, June 2, 2017. He was born October 10, 1949 in Billings, Montana to Earnest Ray "Shorty" and Sophie (Remick) Osmon. He grew up in California and attended the public schools in Delano, CA. His family moved to the Muskogee area in 1976.
He always enjoyed being around cars and trucks. He drove semi trucks for many years before working with his son, Devlin, at Okie Chop Shop and later opening his own mechanics garage, Outlaw Customs.
Ray's hobbies included spending time with his friends and family going to the lake and travelling between California and Oklahoma and fixing things. He loved speed and going fast. He enjoyed riding his Harley. His family recalls him as a very loyal friend and remembers many times that he dropped what he was working on to go help someone else in need.
On September 3, 2015 he married the love of his life, Ami Cariker, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas at the Rock Cottage Gardens. They have shared more than 4 years of happy life and marriage together.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Ray is survived by his wife, Ami of the home; his sons, Kevin Osmon of Las Vegas and Devlin Osmon and wife Janice of McLain; children, Cody Bates of Enochville, NC, and Mikie Pendergraft, Titan Scoggins and Sicily Scoggins all of Webbers Falls; his grandchildren, Hailey Osmon, Megan Benson and Tray Webb; great grandchildren, Zoe, Asher, Karson, Andrew, Joseph, Jacob and Dalton and several others; his brother, Rodger Osmon and his wife Barbara of Sallisaw; numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of Ray's life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with County Commissioner Stephen Wright officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Blackwood, Frankie Hill, Dee Chandler, Stephen Wright, Gerry Kingsley and Robert Skiles.
