Donald Alan Mott, age 71, of Fort Gibson, OK, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, in Rolla, MO. Don was born January 20, 1946, in Enid, OK, to Harry and Atha (Burge) Mott. He attended Hennessey Public Schools and graduated from Colcord High School in Colcord, OK. Upon graduating high school, he served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After completing his service, he married Joyce Kirby in Colcord on December 20, 1969. He attended Okmulgee Tech and earned a certificate in heating and air conditioning. Later, he attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in accounting. In 1992, Don began his position with Veterans Affairs in Muskogee, OK, where he served as a loan officer until retiring in 2010.
Don loved reading, especially about history, and was a member of the Oklahoma Anthropological Society. He also enjoyed sailing, woodworking, and travel. A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, Don faithfully supported his favorite baseball team. Above all, he loved simply spending time with his grandkids and other family.
Don is survived by one daughter, Melissa Hubenett, and her husband, Mike, of McPherson, KS and one son, Jamie Mott, and his wife, Nicki, of Tulsa, OK, along with four grandchildren: Conrad Mott and Logan, Brooks, and Cara Hubenett. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Larry Mott.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment will be at Row Cemetery in Colcord, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
