Delores A. Vandiver, 84, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Delores was born July 26, 1933 in Muskogee, the daughter of Richard A. and Grace Flora (Perry) Peterson. She was raised in Muskogee and graduated from Central High School in 1952. After graduation, Delores worked at various companies before attending Northeastern State University and earning a Bachelors of Science in Education in 1968, and a Masters of Education in 1970. She taught elementary school in Fort Gibson for 18 years. After her marriage to Bob Vandiver she retired in 1985 so that they could travel. At Northeastern State University she was a member of Rhe Theta Sigma Sorority and Teachers Associations both on the state and national level.
The Vandivers moved to Muskogee in 1994 from Tahlequah. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Muskogee. Delores enjoyed reading, traveling, and working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Teresa Kaye Oliver; husbands, James L. Oliver and Robert E. "Bob" Vandiver and brother Garland Peterson. Delores is survived by her sons, Ron and Sue Oliver of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Glen Oliver and Michelle Metz of Fort Gibson and stepson, Randy and Pat Vandiver of Muskogee and sister-in-law, Betty Jo Peterson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Grandchildren include Misty Vandiver and Matthew Oliver both of Muskogee and Megan Oliver of Fort Gibson; niece, Donna Jo Peterson Woods and nephews; Michael and Dee Lee Peterson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Michael Hart officiating.
