Dan's Story

Text size

Dan Ross of Muskogee, OK passed away on March 2, 2017 at the age of 68. Born and raised in Muskogee, he graduated from Central High School in 1966 and received his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science from Oklahoma State University.
Dan joined the Air Force out of college and was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in California. Before leaving for the Air Force, Danny married Marsha Kaye Laster after only 5-6 dates. Dan and Marsha had a long and happy marriage of 46 years. They raised two boys together and had 5 grandchildren. Dan found real estate when he returned to Muskogee and enjoyed a long career in the real estate business. He was recently inducted into the Remax Hall of Fame. Dan enjoyed giving back to his community and was very active in his church, First United Methodist and served the needy through The Gospel Rescue Mission. Dan was also a long time active member of the Muskogee Exchange Club in many roles.
Baseball was one of Dan's passions. He gained the love of baseball from his father, Buck Ross, who enjoyed a good career as a minor-league pitcher in the 40's and 50's. As a young man, Danny played ball in the Muskogee Prep Leagues, for Central High School Roughers, Connors State College and his beloved OSU Cowboys. He was also an outstanding coach and coached both his boys through their little league and prep years as well as countless other young men of his community. However, his biggest two loves were his family and his Cowboys.
Dan is survived by his wife, Marsha Kaye (Laster) Ross of the home; sons, Brady Ross and wife Elizabeth and their children Hayden, Ella and, Eli of Muskogee, Dustin Ross and wife Kari and their children Kennedy and Kolton of Marshfield, MO; one brother, Larry Ross of Muskogee; sisters, Francie Wright and husband Bill of Muskogee, and Leigh Ann Matthews and husband Scott; brother in law of Muskogee, Tom Laster and wife Sandi of Muskogee; stepmother, Betty (Reay) Ross of Tulsa; stepsister, Nancy Horn and family of Tulsa; stepbrother, Brad Reay and family of Muskogee; along with many nieces and nephews.
