Clara's Story

Clara Dora Skinner, 96, of Muskogee, died Monday. Clara was a native of Norman, AR, born on May 19, 1920, to Berry and Izzie Davis. She attended Norman schools and graduated from Norman High School in 1938. Clara moved to Muskogee in February 1939 and enrolled in nurses training at Oklahoma Baptist Hospital. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1942 and completed the State Board the day after graduation.
Ms. Skinner worked the majority of her career as an Obstetrics Nurse at Muskogee General Hospital and with Dr. Charles White she ended her career in 1985 as Head Nurse of the Labor and Delivery Room at Muskogee General Hospital.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Skinner of Muskogee, her parents and her brother and sister. Clara Dora is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 8:00-10:00 AM on Thursday, March 2nd at Foster-Petering Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Muskogee or a charity of your choice.
