Billie C. Burress, 81, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven's gates on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 24, 1935 in Mobeetie, Texas to Marvin and Clydelia (Futch) Burress.
Billie married Ula Reed on July 31, 1955. They lived in Pampa, Texas until Uncle Sam called and the Army took him to Germany. After his return state-side, Billie moved his family to the Elm Grove Road area in 1960.
His life's dream was to be able to raise cattle and farm. After working 20 years at OG&E the Lord blessed and he was able to achieve this lifelong dream. Billie also loved to ride, raise, and train horses which he did very well. He bred and raised an American Quarter Horse World Champion, Mr. Little Brown Jug.
Billie loved to hunt and fish with his family and did this as often as he could. He enjoyed many hunting trips to Colorado and Wyoming with his hunting buddies, Mike Grace, Ralph Moses, and Carl McClure.
He will always be remembered as a man of strong faith, a wonderful and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Clydelia Burress; brother, Donald Burress; and grandson, David Burress.
Billie is survived by his wife, Ula of 61 years; sons, Tony and wife Marlene, Rod and wife Trena; grandchildren, Tisha, Randy and wife Jessica, Ryan and wife Mandy, and Tyeler and wife Rebekah; great grandchildren, Kaden, Alyson, Miriam, and Naomi; two step grandchildren, six great step grandchildren, four great great step grandchildren all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sisters, Maretta Nichols and husband Wayne, Phyllis Burress, all of Amarillo, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and wonderful church family that will miss him dearly.
The family requests memorials be made to Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church (building fund) 11701 Hwy 64 S. Muskogee, Oklahoma 74403.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Billie's life will be 2:00pm, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with Brother Danny Barks officiating assisted by Reverend Cardell Coppin. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with nephews, Andy Reed, Doug Reed, Brady Burress, Kody Burress, Bron Johnson, Eric Johnson, and Rondall Thompson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Mike Grace, Ralph Moses, Darrell Elliott, J. D. Johnson, Dave Baker, Dee Neuroth, Darrell Neuroth, Al Ferguson, Roy Rains, Densel Reed, and Dub Neuroth.
