Barbara's Story

Barbara Jean (Garner) Rowan, 75, a lifelong Fort Gibson resident was born January 30, 1942 in Muskogee, OK to Olen and Roxie (Ellis) Garner and met her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Tulsa, OK with her loving family by her side.
Barbara grew up and attended school in Muskogee. She met, fell in love with, and later married her life partner, Donald Coy Rowan on March 12, 1959, a marriage that stood the test of time of 57 years until his passing on April 10, 2016.
Barbara spent most of her working years at Advanced Laundry in Muskogee and Whitlock Packaging in Fort Gibson. She enjoyed fishing, was an amazing seamstress, making crafts and camping. Many fun memories were made on yearly trips to Branson, MO. Barbara was an amazing cook, and was famous for her chicken and dumplings and chop suey. Spending time with and cooking for her family on the holidays was her greatest passion.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Don.
Those left to cherish Barbara's memory are her children; Olen and wife Debbie Rowan, Curtis Rowan, Pam Rowan, Darlene Rowan, Billy and wife Illeta Rowan and Angela and husband Brian Bowden, grandchildren; Joshua and Rebeka Rowan, Shawn and Ashley Rowan, Jason Rowan, Blake and Samantha Rowan, Devin and Abbye Rowan, Dylan Rowan, Michael Watts, Tammy and Josh Thomas, James and B.J. Watts, Justin Watts, Luke Watts, Katelynn Bowden, Chloe Mayfield, Bailey and Briar Bowden, great grandchildren; McKenzie Rowan, Austin Rowan, Audrey Rowan, Seth Leavell, Blake Leavell, Brody Rowan, Whitlee Rowan, Danny Watts, Olivia Watts, Titus Boswell, Priya Boswell, Kaidence Boswell, and Stormy Brooks, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the Fort Gibson First Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Gandara officiating.
Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Middleton Chapel Cemetery in Oktaha, OK with Justin Watts, Luke Watts, Josh Rowan, Jason Rowan, Devin Rowan and Dylan Rowan serving as casket bearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shawn Rowan, Blake Rowan, Josh Thomas, Mike Watts, James Watts and Brody Rowan.
