Wyatt's Story

Wyatt Dakota Bruce, 23 lifetime resident of Gum Springs, entered Heaven's gates early on August 30, 2017. He was born December 14, 1993, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to John and Amy (Gilstrap) Bruce. He grew up and attended Braggs Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 2012.
Shortly after graduation from high school, he went to work with Greg Cullum Construction at Georgia-Pacific in Muskogee. During his time working there, he received several certifications including his Heavy Equipment Certification to operate heavy machinery.
"Wy Man" as his family and friends knew him, was an avid outdoorsman! He loved being outdoors working on his tractor, fishing and being with his family. His family remembers him as being humble, loyal and very kind.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alva Gilstrap of Gore; paternal grandfather, John Bruce of Oklahoma City and paternal grandmother, Marie Hill of Eufaula.
"Wy Man" is survived by his parents, John and Amy Bruce of Gore; his maternal grandmother, Karen Gilstrap of Gore; his brothers, Dalton Bruce and his wife Racheal of Braggs, Denver Bruce and his wife Caitlin of Gore; his nieces and nephew, Gracie, Mylee, Emma Jo, Alvie and Presley; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Wyatt's life will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Garner officiating.
