Willodean's Story

Willodean Burris Ream passed away August 10th, 2017. Willie was born in Pawnee, December 8, 1930 to Herbert and Ruby Allene Burris of Muskogee, and married Carl Ream.

Willie received her bachelors from OSU, a masters in theology from SMU, and a second masters in education from UCO.

A pioneer, educator, and explorer, Willie traveled a spiritual path. Her journey began as a missionary in Algeria, South Africa and Portugal, and later she taught at Casady School until 1995. During retirement she enjoying travel, grandkids, serving the homeless.

Willodean is survived by the families of her three children, Mark and Lisa Smith Ream of Irving, Texas, Maria and Don Jones of Round Rock, Texas, Rebecca (Parker) and Cooper Ames of Guthrie, Oklahoma; eight wonderful grandchildren, Fisher Ream, Harper Ream, Rebecca Jones, Kate Jones, Michael Jones, Isaac Jones, Hannah (Parker) and Preston Pennington, and Madeline Parker. Willies first great grandchild, Ruby Pennington will be welcomed to the family later this fall.

A memorial will be held at Mayflower UCC, 3901 NW 63rd, Oklahoma City on August 26th at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, Willie would direct you to ALZ.org for Alzheimers research or Mayflower UCCs 363 ministry to the homeless.
