Wanda Martin, 82, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017. She was born December 10, 1934 in Walters, Oklahoma to Lorea and Kenneth Phillips, and the family moved to Lawton when Wanda was six years of age. On July 13, 1956, Wanda married James W. Martin, and that wonderful marriage was blessed with four children, Jimmy, Tony, Kim and Pamela. Wanda and Jim moved from Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Muskogee, Oklahoma in June 1957 to start Jim's dental practice in the Old Surety building. Wanda was his secretary and dental assistant for 48 ½ years until Jim's death in 2004. Wanda and Jim were long time members of First Baptist Church in Muskogee, she served as president of Eastern Dental Society and worked with a Smile Contest. Wanda baked pies for the Lion's booth at the Muskogee Fair and was also a member of the ESA. She helped Jim sell lightbulbs for Lion's Club and was on the board for the Paul Young Little League. Wanda and Jim loved to travel and loved watching their children collect seashells and play on the beach. Jim and Wanda worked together, played together and just loved being together.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James W. Martin; parents, Lorea and Kenneth Phillips; daughter, Pamela Lorea; brother, Charles Phillips; one niece; and one nephew. She is survived by her children, Jim and wife Collette Martin, Tony and wife Kristen Martin, and Kim and husband Jay Pettit; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one niece; best friend Maggie Sellers; and a host of friends that seemed more like family.
A funeral celebrating the life of Wanda will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Mr. Bill Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
