Tonya's Story

Tonya Dea (Summerlin) Crittenden lived a beautiful life. Tonya was born to Robert and Tracy Summerlin in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on December 11, 1983. Tonya left this world in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on July 21, 2017 at the age of 33 years, 7 months, and 10 days.
On August 20, 2004 Tonya married the love of her life, Matthew Scott Crittenden. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, 11 months of Gore; their daughter, Ayden Crittenden and son, Rowdy Crittenden; her parents, Robert Summerlin of Gore, OK and Tracy Summerlin of Tulsa, OK; her sisters, Stephanie Bennett of Sallisaw, OK; Amy Ward of Elk City, OK; Kimberly Garcia of Tulsa, OK; her brother, Robert A. Summerlin of Webbers Falls, OK; and Dillen Summerlin of Gore, OK. Tonya is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Roy and Valerie Raines of Webbers Falls, OK and paternal grandmother, Betty Summerlin of Gore, OK; three sisters-in-law, Belinda Nichols, Amee Howell, and Olivia Terrell; one brother-in-law, Joshua Crittenden and her mother-in-law, Kathy Hammack; many friends, cousins and 19 nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly. Tonya was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alfred Summerlin of Gore, OK.
Tonya battled a life threatening cancer for 14 months with grace and dignity. At the beginning of her diagnosis she lived by the belief that "It Is Well With My Soul". Trusting in God, regardless of the outcome, has made an impact on those who knew her closely or hardly at all. Tonya's warm smile, tenacious personality, and beautiful heart will be remembered by so many across her community and beyond.
Tonya's wishes were to be cremated and a plot be placed close by her grandfather at White Chapel Cemetery in Gore, OK. Memorial services for her will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Immanuel Baptist Church, Sallisaw, OK.
