Tommy Joe Smith, 65, of Canadian, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, November 3rd, 2016. He was born July 19, 1951 to Herbert Hoover Smith and Freda Hatley Smith. Tommy married his best friend and soul mate, Lucille (Nail) Smith, September 18th, 1992 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They shared many years of life and marriage together.
Tommy graduated from Checotah High School, with the class of 1969, then went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. After graduation, he worked for Owens Brockway as a mold maker. He loved hunting deer and quail, skiing, and enjoyed fishing very much. He was avid gardener and was looking forward to starting his new garden. Tommy was a devoted NASCAR fan, and enjoyed cheering on the OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and stepmom, Luramae.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Lucille Smith of the home; stepchildren, Tim Keele and wife Leslie of Paris, TX, Kevin Keele of Canadian, OK, Jenny Moore and husband Charlie of Muskogee, OK; his adopted son, Theo; brother, Nicky D. Smith and wife Cheryl of Belize; stepbrother, Jimmy Wayne "P.nut" White of Checotah, OK; stepsister, Linda Joyce "Cindy" Wilks and husband Lawrence of Altus, OK; uncle, Ernie Hatley of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Caleb Keele, Justin Keele, Katie Keele, Madison Moore, and Kevin Keele Jr.; along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Tommy's life will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 12th, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Crowder, Oklahoma with Brother Terry Moore officiating. Pallbearers will be Aaron Harold, Mike Dickerson, David Dickerson, Rick Walker, Randy Kindred, and Aaron Dunaway. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Opitz Andy Nail, and Dave Wickline.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 10th, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
