Susan's Story

Susan Jane Ellison, 60, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away December 4, 2017 at her home of natural causes. Susan was born on May 21, 1957 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jack and Carolyn (Fry) Ellison of Muskogee.
Susan was cherished as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, daughter and granddaughter
along with having many friends.
Susan worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Muskogee and retired in August,
2013. Prior to working for the VA, she worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Muskogee and
Albuquerque, NM. Susan went to school in Muskogee and graduated from Warner High School in 1975.
She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Southeastern Oklahoma.
Susan had 2 children, Keah Jane Ellison and Brandon Thomas Ellison and 2 grandchildren, Keaundre
Keishaun Ellison and Rodell Keayon McClean. Her children and grandsons were her pride and joy. Susan
had a special friend, John Bray, whom she enjoyed spending time with.
Susan loved to fish and would spend summers on the river with her travel trailer and boat. You would
find her at the river most of the time with her fishing partner, David Claypool.
In 2011 Susan was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and survived the chemo treatment, went into
remission and enjoyed life for 6 more years.
Susan had a very contagious smile and loved having friends and family with her. She was always the first
one to help when someone was in need. The family would like to thank her very special friend, Kathy
Nault for her friendship and help when Susan needed it.
Susan is survived by her children, Keah (John Whiteside) and Brandon; grandsons, Keaundre and Rodell;
sister, Glenna Ellison (Ed) of Bismarck, ND; niece and nephew, Talara (Dan) Latt, Preston (Mandy) Jojola;
great niece and nephews, Tiara Jojola, Makkhi Jojola, Tavin Latt and Heath Latt all of North Dakota.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Carolyn Ellison; maternal grandparents, Rosa and Pete Fry; paternal grandmother, Susan Jane Ellison (her namesake); and many cousins and friends.
A celebration of Susan's life will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 8, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Beeme officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Jojola, John Whiteside, Cowboy and Eric Richardson.
