Shirley Ann Moydell passed this life on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at the age of 86. She was born November 11, 1931 in Springfield, Missouri to Lester and Lucille (Cox) Dodson. She married the love of her life, E. C. "Dick" Moydell on June 12, 1954.
She was primarily a homemaker, raising her four children. Shirley taught many other children over the years in Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson during the 60's & 70's and later in Children's Church and nursery of Central Assembly of God in Muskogee. She also served on the Fort Gibson Public School Board. In the 80's & 90's, after her children were grown, she worked many years at the Commercial Bank & Trust snack bar serving up sodas and snacks with a smile. After retiring, she and Dick enjoyed taking road trips in their motor home.
Shirley was well known around Fort Gibson for the bag of chocolates she always carried in her purse to pass out to anyone who helped her while doing her shopping and banking. Everyone she met was greeted with a smile and she shared her love of Christ as generously as she shared her chocolate. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Moydell; her son Richard Keith Moydell and her brother Clark Dodson.
She is survived by her three daughters; Deborah Dazey and husband Dennis of Tulsa, Cynthia Holland and her husband Rick of McAlester, Marilyn "Kim" Clagg and husband Brian of Muskogee; her five grandchildren; Gloria "Christie" Pittel and husband Ryan of Portland, OR, Erica Frazier and husband Rob of Muskogee, Evan Crisp of Tulsa, Eric Adkins, wife Cindy and daughters Kaelyn and Emily of Muskogee, and Kyle Adkins of Muskogee; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Frazier of Muskogee; her brother Rusty Dodson of California; brothers-in-law Bob Moydell and wife Marti, Tom Moydell and wife Lucille, all of Fort Gibson, and sister-in-law Carolyn Martinez and husband Ruben of California; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
