Rosie's Story

Rosie Lea "Grannie" Humphrey, 91, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven's gates Thursday, July 20, 2017. She was born November 13, 1925 to Bud and Lee Ora (Hardt) Hall in Braggs, Oklahoma.
Rosie married the love of her life, Charles A. "Shinny" Humphrey, on April 12, 1942 in Braggs, Oklahoma. They shared 65 years of a happy life and marriage together.
Rosie worked at Brockway Glass before joining her husband and being co-owner of Shinny's One Stop. She then worked with SWIFT'S/ VALMAC for 26 years and retired as the drawer and the assistant to the inspector. After her retirement she worked as a housekeeper for Muskogee Regional Medical Center for 17 years.
Through the years Rosie attended church at Muskogee First Assembly of God and the last 4 years she attended Oldham Memorial Baptist Church. People in her church knew they could always count on Rosie to pray for them because they knew she was a "prayer warrior". She loved her family very much and enjoyed cooking for them whenever she had the chance. Her boys will always remember the days when she would have them pick their own switch from a tree, but most of all they will remember the motherly love she always showed them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Lee Ora Hall; husband, Charles A. "Shinny" Humphrey; son, Corky Mode; grandchildren, Shelby Atchley, T.J. Fendlason and Derrek Humphrey; and brothers, Hansel Hall and J.D. Hall.
Rosie is survived by her sons, Charles D. Humphrey and wife Carla of Wagoner, OK, Terry Lee Humphrey and wife Arlene of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Ernest Lee Mode of Louisiana, Brad Humphrey of Arlington, TX, Jeremy Humphrey and wife Mindi of Broken Arrow, OK, Bobby Atchley and wife Shaunna of Coweta, OK, Eric Humphrey and wife Amber of Borger, TX, Teresa Fendlason of Georgia, John Newman and wife Cindy of Oktaha, OK, Brent Humphrey and wife Tara of Louisiana; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Hall of Tulsa, OK; daughter-in-law, Robbie Mode of Louisiana; and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Rosie's life will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 24, 2017 at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Little officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Brad Humphrey, Brent Humphrey, Jeremy Humphrey, Eric Humphrey, John Newman, Bobby Atchley and Vick Fendlason serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ivan Burge, George Frazier, Virgil Medley and David Robison.
