Roger Lee Hall, 78, of Nashua, NH, died January 10, 2018 in the Community Hospice House of Merrimack, NH of pancreatic cancer. His special lady-friend of 21 years, Joyce Tagliaferro, was at his side.
Roger was born on April 20, 1939 in Miami, Oklahoma to Leroy and Eunice (Wells) Hall. He grew up in Muskogee, OK and graduated from Muskogee's Central High School in 1957. While in high school, he played football and was on the track team. A highlight of his high school experience was traveling to Anchorage, AK to play in a football game.
Roger attended Connors Junior College and graduated from Central State University in Edmond, OK with a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E-5 after spending nine months in Korea.
He was employed by Honeywell International Inc. in Oklahoma City and was transferred to Honeywell Bull in Billerica, MA in 1975. He retired in 1996. He later worked at Philips Medical in Andover, MA until his retirement in 2014.
Roger and his former wife, Sharon J. Hall, resided in Nashua where he continued to live until his death. During his years as a loyal member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Nashua, he served as a church trustee and on the missions committee, sang in the chancel choir, and was known as the "Ham Man" for the church's monthly ham and bean suppers.
Known as "Mr. Fix-It," Roger was a highly skilled carpenter. After the Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity was established in 1994, he willingly used his time and talents to assist in their projects. He was presented with the NH Spirit Award from Habitat for Humanity in November 2017.
His other interests included golfing in a weekly league at Green Meadows Golf Course in Hudson, NH, eating out (with coupons}, spending time with close friends, and recent cruises with Joyce.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Roy Peters, of Tulsa; his nephew, Blane Peters, and wife, Joni, of Stillwater; and his niece, Jill Peters, and her wife, Jen Sanders, of Tulsa.
Other survivors include Joyce Tagliaferro of Hudson, NH; her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Kirk Pavelich of North Royalton, OH, and their children, Rachel, Becca and Jonathan; and her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Stefanie Tagliaferro of Elkhart, IN, and their children, Andrew and Abby.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Barbara Peters, who died in April 2016.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Main Street United Methodist Church, 154 Main St., Nashua. Details will follow in a later announcement. Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of New Hampshire.
