Robert Stevenson was born September 6, 1946 in Buffalo, NY and passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2018 in Muskogee, OK.
After finishing high school, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1965. During the Vietnam War, he served on the USS Carter Hall and the aircraft carrier, USS Princeton. While aboard the Princeton, he took part in the recovery of the Apollo 10 mission to the moon.
In 1969 he married Corinne Travis who he met while stationed in Long Beach, CA. Soon afterwards, he left the Navy and became a journeyman carpenter and joined the union. They moved from California to Muskogee, OK, in 1980. For many years he worked for the Curtsinger family and was head of maintenance for Curt's Mall. His hobbies were fishing, war movies, and anything involving the Navy, military history, and WWII.
Survivors include his children, Robert Edward Stevenson II and Tracey, Sheila Smith and husband, Randy, Alicia Stevenson and Rusty Wise all of Muskogee; grandchildren, Cory, Michael, Zachary, Samantha, Savannah, Blaine, Paizlee, and Russell; a few great-grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Stevenson and Roger Stevenson; numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary (Redman) Stevenson; and one brother, Bruce.
Services for Robert will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel in Muskogee with Pastor Danny Echols officiating. Burial will be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
