Richard Allen Peak

Richard Allen Peak, age 75, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 7, 2019, with his wife Debbie at his side. He was born November 9, 1943 in Whitesboro, Texas - an early surprise to his mother, June, who had traveled to Texas to visit his father, Henry, at the military base where he was stationed. Caught unprepared, the young couple brought their first child into the world and made him a soft bed in a dresser drawer - and so began the life of a guy who would always be comfortable anywhere.
Richard was followed by a brother, David, and a sister, Peggy. He was the ultimate big brother, accused of being his mother's favorite - and no doubt inheriting his father's friendly, sociable personality. In 1962, Richard graduated from Central High School in Muskogee and he truly enjoyed his time with classmates at reunions and meetings over the years. He attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 1967 and was stationed in El Toro, California. Over the next four years, he earned a National Defense Service medal, Good Conduct medals, a Rifle Marksman Badge, and many special commendations for outstanding performance of duty.
Richard and Debbie were married on July 20, 1981. He brought great joy into her life, along with his two precious children, Jennifer and Richard - who also became an instant delight to Debbie's extended family.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, June Oakley Peak; his father, Henry Richard Peak; and his sweet son, Richard Allen Peak II. He is survived by his wife Debbie Fuller Peak of the home; daughter Jennifer Peak Stickelmeyer and husband Mike of Wagoner, OK; sister Peggy Peak Sharp and husband David of Muskogee; brother David Peak and wife Dorothy of Burleson, TX; grandchildren Taylor Stickelmeyer of Tahlequah, OK; Gavin and Reagan Stickelmeyer of Wagoner, OK; Sisters-in-law Linda Gipson and Cheryl Nelson-Bowyer of Muskogee; Brother-in-law Butch Bowyer, Muskogee; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is missed and lovingly remembered by his family, his church family, CHS classmates, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 13, at the First United Methodist Church Muskogee, 600 East Okmulgee, at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online at
