Mildred E. Hester (née Ellis) died peacefully in her sleep on January 3 in Sugar Land, TX at the age of 85.
Mildred is survived by her children, Thomas H Hester Jr. of Chickasha, OK; Jim and Vanessa Hester of Breckenridge, CO; William and JoAnn Hester of Rosenberg, TX; and Robert Hester of Fort Worth, TX, grandchildren, Dustin Hester of Stillwater, OK.; Matthew Hester of Denver, CO; and Erin Hester of Stillwater, OK. She is preceded in death by husband Thomas (Tom) H Hester, Sr., parents Rueben and Alexine Ellis of Henderson, TX, and brother James Ellis of Tyler, TX.
Mildred was born on March 15, 1932 in Dallas, TX to Rueben and Alexine Ellis. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1953 with a degree in Biology. She married Tom in 1954 in Dallas, TX. After spending the early years of their marriage in Laurel, Soso and Jackson Miss. pursuing Tom's career and starting a family, Mildred and Tom moved to Muskogee, OK in 1960 where they happily lived the next 40 years, until Tom's passing, raising their family and enjoying dedicated service to their community and church. Mildred moved to Sugar Land, TX in 2012 to be closer to her family living in the Houston area.
