Melvin Roy Gilmore, 80, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2017. He was born September 22, 1937 in Big Spring, Texas to L. C. and Flossie (Mansfield) Gilmore. He grew up in West Texas working in the grocery store system as a manager. Melvin was happily married to Dora "Jane" Ashley for 59 years. They raised a family in San Angelo, Texas and made Muskogee, their home for the past 6 years.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patsy May; brother, Richard Gilmore; sister-in-law, Jane Gilmore; brother-in-law, John Ashley; father-in-law, L.A. Ashley; mother-in-law, Zora Ashley. He is survived by his wife, Jane Gilmore of the home, Timothy Gilmore (Dyan) of Muskogee; granddaughter, Christin Gilmore of Beaumont; brother, Don Gilmore (Lisa) of San Angelo, Texas; sister, Ruby Pitzer (Kenneth) of San Marcos, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
A funeral service celebrating the life Melvin Gilmore will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Bradley Belltower Chapel with Michael Hart and Bobby Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
