Mark's Story

Mark David Rains, 61, of Muskogee passed from this life early Monday morning, February 27, 2017. Mark was born August 24, 1955 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Billy D. and Marjorie (Webster) Rains. He graduated from Warner High School in 1973. In 1981, Mark married Sharee Bemo and they had two daughters, Amanda and Ashley. Mark worked for many years as a forklift operator at Georgia Pacific before retiring in 2006. Mark had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, ham radio, gun collecting, and building model cars and airplanes. He was a member of the Three Rivers Area Model Plane Society (T.R.A.M.P.S.), where he met most of his close friends.
Among those who were there to welcome Mark into Heaven were his grandparents, William "Buck" and Eliza Rains, and Ernest and Pearl Webster, his father Bill Rains, his step-father Gerald Childress, his beloved dog Peenut, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are his two daughters and son-in-law, Amanda Rains of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and James and Ashley Moelling of Woodward, Oklahoma, his mother Marjorie Childress of Muskogee, Oklahoma, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Pam Rains of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, grandchildren Brooke Real of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Carson, Landon, and Blake Moelling of Woodward, Oklahoma, nieces Kimberly Castor and Stephanie Rains Flanary of Muskogee, Oklahoma, aunt Erma Tarkington of Warner, Oklahoma, uncle Bob Webster of Warner, Oklahoma, numerous cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and faithful friends.
Family visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am with Bro. John Rozell officiating. Mark's remains will be interred at McLain Cemetery on a later date.
The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Cherokee Elder Care in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and the nursing staff of Northeastern Health System in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, The Springs in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Eastar Health System in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The wonderful care you have given Mark and his family is greatly appreciated.
